Frequently asked questions
Where is 737 Pro based?
We are located at Hangar 8, Westair, Blackpool Airport.
What aircraft is the simulator based upon?
Our fixed-base simulator is based upon a Beoing 737NG 800 twin engine jet turbin airliner.
When do you open to the public? Can I buy a gift voucher now?
You can buy pre-launch gift vouchers now, at a discounted rate. You are able to book a flight slot straight away for dates beginning 2nd January 2019.
How long are gift vouchers valid for?
Six months from the point of purchase. This can be extended by 3 months for £30 extra. Any purchases before 01/01/2019 will not have the 6-month time limit start until this day on the new year. Meaning that if they are purchase at the start of December, they will be valid for around 7 months.
Customers with photo sensitive epilepsy are unable to use the simulator. Due to the nature of the experience and the requirements to climb in and out of the cockpit, customers should be of a reasonable level of fitness and health to participate. As the simulator is a replica of the real thing, access to the pilot seats requires passing your legs through the narrow gap between the seat and the communications pedestal.
The passenger section is easier to access, though still requires a level of mobility to access. As a general guide, customers and guests should have the ability to climb in and out of a car unaided.
Please call us before purchasing an experience to discuss any of these factors. We will endeavour to facilitate any special requirements that you may have.
What should I wear?
We recomend loose comfortable loose clothing. Though please feel free to wear a pilot’s uniform or similar if you wish for photographs.
What are ‘Popular Routes’?
Popular routes can be found on our website under the 'Flight Experiences' tab. They are a suggested set of routes that have been tried and tested; delivering excellent customer satisfaction. It is a list of appropriate routes for appropriate time scales purchase.
Can I visit an airport not on the popular route list?
Yes. Our system has 24,000 airports and accurate terrain / vegetation for the entire planet! However, the airports are procedurally generated. This means that while the runway and taxiway length, width and direction will be accurate, the buildings around it are not true to real life.
All airports on our popular routes are highly realistic and almost identical to the real thing, right down to the signage on the terminals. This is one of the main reasons that we suggest using them for the most realistic experience.
We ask that routes and requests that do not fall into the popular route category are submitted to us at least 24 hours before your selected flight departure.
What previous experience do I need?
None. We tailor all of our courses to meet the needs of the customer, regardless of experience or aptitude. It does not matter if you are a fully qualified pilot or a complete novice, you will love the experience we give you.
Does the simulator move?
This is a fixed base simulator and so it does not move. Don’t let that fool you though, our 220 degree wrap around visuals trick your mind into feeling as though you are moving. This coupled with the vibrations of the engines and sounds lead to a highly realistic experience.
It is very rare that a member of the public would use a full motion simulator for 2 reasons. The first is that the hourly rate starts at around £500+ per hour. The second is that the visuals are not as realistic. This is because they have to move with the cockpit as it rotates, meaning that they have to have smaller screens attached to the cockpit windows. Our 28ft x 8ft screen with triple HD projectors give a much more immersive experience.
What are the age restrictions?
We believe that people of all ages can enjoy the simulator, as long as they are tall enough to reach the controls. We suggest a minimum age of 8 years old as a guide. Our oldest customer so far is in his 90’s. Please see the medical restrictions section for related information.
Can I bring friends and family?
Of course! But there needs to be an additional adult to supervise any children during the experience. Moreover, guests must stay in their seat for the duration of the flight. We can accommodate up to 5 guests at a time. We do not recommend bringing guests for experiences lasting more than 60 minutes, unless you are happy for the simulation to be paused for toilet breaks.
If I have a pilot’s licence can I fly in for my sim session?
Yes, you can. We will even pay your landing fee on all single engine piston aircraft and provide free handling and parking! If your simulator session is for a half or full day session, we will provide overnight hangarage (subject to availability).
How can I pay for a flight experience?
All experiences, whether as a gift, commercial training or a personal purchase can be made through our website or over the telephone. Please note that we do not accept cash, cheques or any form of payment except card.
I have bought or been given a voucher, what next?
Give us a call or send an email to select your date and we will book you in. Customers must arrive 30 minutes before their session time. Any lateness will eat into your briefing time leading to a less enjoyable experience.
We offer bespoke and differentiated school trips that are highly engaging, educational and memorable. One of our instructors, who is not only a commercial pilot but a fully qualified secondary school teacher will get back to you to discuss your specific needs. These will be available from February 2019.
Team work events
Available from February 2019. There are a range of tasks for employees to accomplish working together to land the aircraft in an emergency situation. Highly enjoyable and effective. There are immediate disastrous (simulated) consequences for not working together.
Refund and return policy
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer refunds on purchases unless we cancel your slot for technical reasons.
Please ensure that the intended participant is medically capable of participating.
